Stunning New Coach Houses

Unique Cottages

The old Coach House at North Cadbury Court has recently been sympathetically converted into four unique, high end holiday cottages with more than a nod to their equestrian history, in design and decor.

The south Somerset villages of North and South Cadbury, in this most ancient Vale of Camelot, offer a glimpse into some of Somerset’s earliest history including many of the purported sites for the King Arthur legends.

Our Coach House is ideally located just two hours from London and an hour from Bath, Bristol and Exeter, with easy transfers from local airports and train stations. The Coach House is conveniently placed for a stay en route to Devon or Cornwall.

We are dog friendly! Please ask for our pet policy and details on booking. (One dog per cottage, using downstairs area only and not allowed on the furniture please). Poo bin and bags provided.

An Equine History

The old Coach House originally accommodated the coach and horses belonging to the gentry of our magnificent Grade I listed Elizabethan mansion, North Cadbury Court. Now stylishly refurbished, it offers high end rural luxury retreats which combine comfortable open plan modern living with state of the art fixtures and fittings.

The Coach House is next to the 15th century historic village church and respectfully retains the character and many features of the original old stone stables, the cast iron horse stalls can now be seen on the walls as decoration.

Each house has four bedrooms, so if you are a large group you could book all four houses with 16 double bedrooms. Two of the houses sleep eight guests across four en-suite bedrooms. The other two houses sleep up to seven guests.

Each house also has its own BBQ and outdoor area for dining al fresco.

We can also offer guests a choice of talented local caterers who can provide everything possibly needed, from evening meals to lunches and picnics. Group catering can be made possible if you are using more than one house.

The well stocked village shop is a two minute walk and we now have Teal’s – a new eatery, food market and farm shop/deli just five minutes away, plus a plethora of supermarkets all very close by. There are many welcoming restaurants and gastro pubs all eager to impress you with the high standard of Somerset fayre. Somerset is a food producing county after all and our own cheese, Montgomery Cheddar, is made here on the estate.

Great countryside for walking and cycling, with many idyllic routes including the legendary Cadbury Hill Fort, of King Arthur’s Camelot fame. Local market towns such as Bruton, Castle Cary, Sherborne and Wincanton offer fabulous ancient architecture in the vernacular local Cary stone. All nearby towns offer quirky shopping and most have weekly market days.

Tucked away in many of our local historic towns are some now famous and well known local eateries and art galleries. Or venture a little further to the cities of Bath, Bristol and Wells for cathedrals and grandeur in architecture. There is an eclectic choice of restaurants and country pubs within a very short drive from our location. Also for sea lovers, the south coast is approximately one hour away for coastal day trips. Easy access by A303 to the western coastline or head directly south for some of Dorset’s finest beaches.
